Picked up for €38,000 at Tattersalls Ireland September Sale, the plan was always to return to the venue the following spring. Having put in a solid breeze he found his way to Richard Hannon's selling for €75,000.

Word had it that the colt was well liked at the Everleigh stables but you never know how well they go until you see them running. An entry at Newmarkets July Course meeting suggested that they felt he had a decent level of ability. Having opted to bypass the Newmarket engagement we saw him instead run at Newbury, a track that Richard likes to send a good one to. Having made the running he ran very respectable race to finish 3rd, looking like he was going to improve plenty from it. He was turned out again relatively quickly at Salisbury where he went off favourite and subsequently won comfortably. John Fahy spoke highly of him post race and seemed fairly bullish on the lucky vega colt going forward.

Entries have now been made for both the Mill Reef (6f) and Champagne Stakes (7f). It will be interesting to see what race they target. I saw him as a 7f /miler type but that's not to say he couldn't have sharpened up with his training. The fact that he has a run already at Newbury is a plus if he goes for the mill reef, when you watch the replay back you would say he should be fine over 6 there. The winner of the Newbury race ( won by Chaldean a couple of years back) also has an early entry in the Champagne at Doncaster so it will be interesting if he makes an appearance beforehand. After my research over the previous runnings of Champagne I saw that Richard had sent Rosallion up there but unfortunately disappointed but made up for it not long after by winning the Group 1 Jean Luc lagadere.

It's exciting to see what becomes of Lost signal over the next few months, in terms of a consignor you always like to see them go onto to do something for new connections, as it stands he's looking promising and at least a 90's horse with still room to scale. I recommended this horse to anyone who looked at him so it's rewarding to see them fulfill some of that promise. Now, if he goes onto be a impressive Group winner i will have a moment of regret for selling him at €75k, but it will only be temporary!
